BIOGRAPHY

Carlton King's journey is truly unique. Born in a working class 1950's Northern English mill town to British subjects from the Caribbean, Carlton felt the full force of the then open racism of the era, as a result , Carlton's life opportunities appeared highly limited. Prevented from enlisting in a prestigious classical national school of dance, due to race, and not eligible to work on BBC's Radio One (1) due to the 'colour bar' as well as being advised by the school's Career Officer that black people could not become army officers only privates; so Carlton, studying 'A'  levels, sought out other employment. Carlton turned down signing as a professional footballer for Third Division team, instead he would leave his electrical engineer job, to work as an internationally club DJ before after twists, turns and hard work, becoming the highest ranking Black British secret ‘agent’  of his era.

Although to outsiders Carlton appeared to be regular policeman, those close to him knew he had 'something' to do with Scotland Yard. However, those few in his inner sanctum knew he was a Special Branch officer and fewer still knew when he held a a top role in Britain’s Secret Intelligence Service (MI6).

At home and abroad, from warzones to the playgrounds of the rich and famous Carlton was embroiled in Bondesque espionage, ultra-deep-cover counter-subversive missions, counter-terrorism and national security close protection operations that made him known to world leaders - from Blair to the Clintons', Chancellor Merkel to Sir John Major and their royal highnesses Prince Charles and Princess Diana.

Helicopters, big guns, fast cars and luxury hotels are all part of Carlton's story, as was his knowledge of extremist politics and the capacity to rapidly evaluate intelligence – not least to stay alive.

Having the highest clearance to state secrets for more than a quarter of a century, Carlton undertook varying national security, secret intelligence  and armed governmental close protection operations globally.

Carlton Book, 'Black Ops-The incredible true story of a British secret agent' provides readers with one of the most authoritative, current and in-depth accounts of British secret intelligence and national security operations ever written. Consequently, it’s took him more than four years of legal wrangling with Scotland Yard and government to be allowed to publish Black Ops....

It is this antecedence, along with his time as a German Haus Detektiv and detective for a section of the United States Department of Defence, that Carlton relies on in his discussions with celebrity guests in the Black Spy Podcast. Listen and be amazed!
